I think it is something like this.

You can find the original template for this meme here.

As any fan will rabidly attest, given even the slightest opportunity to do so: I fucking love Haruki Murakami.

Lots of stellar talent - I'm definitely going to have to look up the ones I don't know.

Re: Murakami. I know!
Also I think I'm forgetting other comic book artists that I find very inspiring, like Becky Cloonan (Demo) or Irving Frazer (Current Batman and Robin) and probably more if I keep thinking...

This one is unexpected.

I was ready for Borges and Cortazar to fill most of it. And Lovecraft, maybe. But Morrisson is very surprising (though Pope is not).

Whenever I read a G. Morrison's comic I feel creatively recharged. I don´t know if he counts as visible influence but certainly is an inspiration.

I left off non-visual influences, lest I go mad.

Mine is a bit of a mess, & as soon as I finished I realized I left people off...but I really liked this meme, even though I'm not an artist.

For all the Borges & Gaiman, have you read Gene Wolfe? He's woooooonderful.

Oh, I haven't but I'll follow your recommendation and check him.

His Book of the New Sun is amazing-- I tried to have a book club about it last year. "Shadow & Claw" is the name of the first thing to read-- it is one book, published as four books, then collected into two books. Oh, you are in for a treat.

Dave McKean

Hi... It doesn't surprise me at all to see Gaiman, Pope, Chiarello, Borges or Cortázar amongst your influences... but I was a little bit surprised about the lack of Dave McKean there! ;) I mean, he was the first artist to come to my mind while reading your comic... There's a certain resemblance in your stories to works like Cages or Mr. Punch, for example... ;)

Anyway... Great comic! thanks...

Re: Dave McKean

You are right, it's odd that I didn't include him, maybe it's because I haven't been checking his work lately. Cages is a great book! If you like McKean I recommend the works of Alberto Breccia and José Muñoz (in case you don't know them). Also, the films of Jan Svankmajer.
